Subject: Elist for TUNA, a new club on campus pending TCUJ recognition

Description: Hello,

I hope you are well. I am Zachary Taouli, a junior, and cc’ed is Talia Wilcox, a senior. We are writing to you to inform you of the fact that we have recently decided to create a new club on campus called Tufts University Nuclear Activists (TUNA), pending TCUJ recognition this fall semester. Tufts University Nuclear Activists has a threefold aim:
to intellectually engage the student body at through teach-ins and events around accelerating the cause towards nuclear disarmament
to invite experts and collaborate with other student organizations to organize interdisciplinary and collaborative events both on and off campus to facilitate our first goal
to, perhaps most ambitiously, organize lobbying outreach at the state and communal level to get elected representatives of Massachusetts and the Medford area to ratify pro-nuclear disarmament legislation

Although we are not yet recognized by the university, we stand as the first club of its kind at Tufts dedicated to nuclear disarmament. We have already established partnerships with prominent organizations in the nuclear activism space, including the Reverse the Trend initiative of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation (NAPF), and we have secured a faculty advisor who is a distinguished researcher at MIT. These alliances offer unparalleled opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and access to global experts in the field, which we believe will significantly enhance Tufts' reputation in fostering social and political advocacy.

As such, creating this e-list will enable us to reach out to campus students and alumni to gauge their interest in our cause and perhaps to use it as a future tool if we do get recognized by TCUJ this spring semester.
