onehealthsummit2014 - 2nd GRF One Health Summit 2013: Final call for abstract

Subject: 2nd GRF One Health Summit 2013: Final call for abstract

Description: Dear collegues

Many emerging health issues and food safety problems are linked to increasing interaction between humans and wild-life, lack in fresh water accessibility, intensification and integration of food production, loss in biodiversity, or the increase in international travel. In order to achieve optimal health for people, animals and the environment a new collaborative effort between multiple disciplines on the local, national and global level is much needed. Therefore GRF Davos pursues the One Health approach that seeks to engage public health, veterinary health, and environmental health professionals in the search for sustainable solutions.

From 17-19 November 2013 the 2nd GRF One Health Summit 2013 in Davos, Switzerland provides vast opportunities for the exchange of inter-sectorial experience and trans-disciplinary knowhow in the intersect of human, animal and ecosystems. The 2nd GRF One Health Summit 2013 will contribute to take the One Health approach forward and to establish a global One Health movement.

Striving for intensified collaboration among experts and practitioners from the different sectors and disciplines tangent to such a comprehensive health perspective the summit will provide significant added value to identify cost-effective measures.

The summit lays a particular focus on:
• emerging infectious diseases
• food safety and security
• water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)
• cross-sectorial policies, strategies & tools
• community involvement to regional and international networks and organizations
• economic valuation of inter-sectorial collaboration
• animal impact diseases
